According to the Missouri Secretary of State, “if you are from another state and are attending college in Missouri you have the option of registering to vote from your Missouri residence, or keeping your registration in your home state and voting by absentee.”
The SLU College Democrats advise all students to register to vote at their mailing address in the Busch Student Center for the following reasons:
1) Convenience: If you register at your BSC address, you will be eligible to vote in the BSC polling place on election days. This is a much easier process than absentee voting.
2) Effectiveness: Missouri is a swing state. Therefore, your vote has a marginally greater impact than it would have in a generally non-competitive state, i.e. Illinois, Texas, California
3) Practicality: If you are a student at SLU, you spend most of your time in Saint Louis. That means that most of the time you are governed by elected officials in Saint Louis and Missouri. The best way to have your voice heard in Saint Louis and Missouri government is by voting here.
Registering at your campus address is easy. You can register to vote at any SLU College Democrats meeting or event. Or, simply print out a voter registration form.
Below is a sample completed registration form:
*do not fill out the driver’s license box unless you have a Missouri license.
**if you have registered to vote in Missouri before, check the “change address” box instead of the “new registration” box
Once you have completed the form, mail it to the following address:
